DVR-105 working, but also...

iscaro

Italian Cool Mac User :-)
It stopped working and being accepted as Fully supported to Not supported already two times...

It is working ok when it wants too... then when it stops, I cannot even open it and take the CD inside... if I restart, it goes ok, but I do not want and I cannot restart my PowerMac so often!

Any Idea? I have a Combo inside (it really gives me a few problems accepting epty CD-R and burned CD-R sometimes) but it never stopped working... My new Pionner DVR-105 worked good and the started to do those things...

A system problem or what?

Thanks, Ro

Sounds like it needs to be replaced. What machine is it in? How old is the machine? Is it under warranty?
Did you open the case recently? it could be the cable is not fit snug to it.

There was a firmware update for some superdrives. I can't remember if yours was included.

My machine is the one you see below...

It is new... I did the work inside the case... now I have 3 Hard Drives... the Combo and the SuperDrive in it...

I checked Apple System Profiles and I was used to see it Not Accepted now... but then, the last time I checked, it took long to see something... it gave me a disk error... and the, finally, my SuperDrive opened... and it was Fully Accepted.
Without a restart!!! :D

I still have to undestand what's wrong... now I will move the SuperDrive and the Combo and Switch them...
I am quite good with computers... I did it as a job for a few months too and I was used to work with PCs a few years ago... so it is not hard for me to move things and to fix them, but this is really different

Any idea whay it is working now without a restart and it is fully accepted again?

I have a little problem with SoundSticks too... sometimes they stop working and if I unplug them, the system does a log-out and a log-in closing all my applications... it does it a few times... and in different situations...

Any Ideas? Thanks...

What OS are you using? The problem could be the a conflict of programs and/or extensions if you are in OS 9.

Have you installed anything new lately?

Verify that one drive is set to Master and the other to Slave. Word in the forums is that the Pioneer should be set to Master and the combo to Slave. I just installed a DVR-105 into a new G4 (with the non-Pioneer DVD burner) and set the drives as above with the Pioneer below the existing burner. Works flawlessly.

I had the Pionner below... and it gave me problems... now I have it on top... and I will check it... now it is also 1.33 Firmware...
