Are there any pros/cons about Earthlink's DSL service? Any recommendations for DSL in the Sf bay area?

Earthlink DSL was the first and only DSL service I had, I had it for many years.

Overall it was very good, I had a Zyxel Prestige 641 which they gave me free (which I still have) this was a modem/router built in, great machine, of course they didn't give it out long after that since instructions got out on how to make it automatically log in to the dsl which makes it always on.

However with this always on adsl it was VERY stable, it was very very very unoften that I had any downtime, I got about 1200/250 speeds usually.

I'm not located on the west coast though, so I can't speak for your service. I'm in Atlanta, GA which is where the main mindspring NOC was (which is what the company was when I got it)

Overall I was impressed by the service, although the customer service itself wasn't very good the actual performance was great.

Any questions let me know, I'd recomment dslreports dot com also, they have great reviews and more than you could read.

I have Earthlink DSL, and I love it. It's plenty fast and it never goes down. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's not always on; in 9, I have to use MacPoET to connect it, though in X it connects automatically.

I use it. It's excellent. Never any problems. Also, if you're traveling, part of their DSL package is a certain amount of dial-up time (20 hrs/mo last I checked) and they've got local numbers all across the U.S., so that's handy.

Oh, by the way, Arden, I keep my service always on using an Airport base station.
