Easy, powerful socket

OK guys, I'm a Cocoa newbie and I need to be able to add sockets to my app. I'm currently using SmallSockets, but I need the socket to be listening all the time in the background (of the app) and I can't seem to get SmallSockets to do that. Are there any other socket classes I could use that aren't too hard to use?
