Ebert plugs Mac in movie review

Colonel Panic
In his review for the (apparently not very good) movie "Final Destination 2" Roger Ebert makes a funny pro-Mac quip (be sure to read the whole paragraph):

"Soon bad things are happening to good people, in a series of accidents that Rube Goldberg would have considered implausible. In one ingenious sequence, we see a character who almost trips over a lot of toys while carrying a big Macintosh iMac box. In his house, he starts the microwave and lights a fire under a frying pan, then drops his ring down the garbage disposal, then gets his hand trapped in the disposal while the microwave explodes and the frying pan starts a fire, then gets his hand loose, breaks a window that mysteriously slams shut, climbs down a fire escape, falls to the ground and finally, when it seems he is safe ... well, everything that could possibly go wrong does, except that he didn't get a Windows machine."

:D

Hehe, well...hes a pretty bright guy. So its only natual that he could "see the light".:D Most geniouses know that Windows sucks. Thats why there is Macintosh/Apple.:p Hehe.

Another Mac mention by Ebert, this time for the review of "The Recruit".

"The senior instructor is Walter Burke, played by Al Pacino in a performance that is just plain fun to watch, gruff, blunt, with a weathered charm. He recruits an MIT whiz-kid named James Clayton (Colin Farrell), who turns down a big offer from Dell Computers because he wants to know more about the fate of his late father, a CIA agent. Or maybe because he uses a Macintosh"

Wow, twice in one week, perhaps Apple should start a series of commercials that just has Ebert giving his reviews ;)

I saw that movie a few days ago. I meant to mention that. Here's a framegrab:

I know for a fact that Ebert is a Mac user. I read an editorial from him in a Mac magazine a while back where he talked about his trusty old typewriter and how he migrated to a Mac. He was definitely pro-Mac. I guess he might hate Windows from seeing people use it at work all the time.

I was a PC user myself who just switched to a Mac on the first of November. I still work with PC's both at work and at school, and laugh whenever problems occur. I do tech support and whenever a customer gets serious problems, I tell them about my experience with Windows SP1 (which prompted my Mac) and pretty much sell them the Mac.

Honestly though, I can't imagine ever wanting to return to an operating system that doesn't allow you to remove IE (allowing advertising companies to take advantage of you in every which way)

1) i rarely agree with his opinions
2) he reminds me of my neighbor who is also a critic
3) i hate my neighbor

yeah, but he's so huggable.

this is actually my 1401st post, but my 1400 seems to have dissapeared for some reason.

A critic's job is to help people decide which movies to see. In your case, Jet, Ebert's reviews may work perfectly - just see all the ones he hates!

I don't always agree with his choices myself, but his writing is always entertaining.

I do, however, agree with his choice of computers, and I suspect you do too....

And he looks nothing like any of MY neighbors.
