yea, the center ice package would be great. my lady is a football fan so we have the nfl sunday ticket and espn college gameplan. so it's really easy for me to follow football - watching college helps alot in knowing who is likely to be a rookie star in the nfl.
i certainly believe that a lot of good mid level players will do better than a few great ones and a bunch of mediocre ones. being on the lookout for rising stars is also a big advantage as the end of the season is often more important than the beginning - just like in the real league. in football i've gone from almost last to the top of the division by stringing together 5 straights wins the last 5 weeks. it just took my guys awhile to live up to their potential. likewise in hockey, my draft was mostly geared to pick up older stars who i knew rather than the real top players of the day. and while they started slow, most of them are looking like the superstars they are by now. jagr, hull, roenick, lang and lindros have all been hot and consistent as of late. and consistency wins more fantasy games than guys who score a hat trick every three weeks. also good to keep in mind when scouting players - the rankings are based upon public league stats and we have a lot more scoring categories. someone who is ranked lower might be a better pickup because they fill another void like FW or SH%. and always check out players by averages, not just totals. hot rookies and guys who have been on the IR will often show their true talent rankings when viewed like this. lindros looks terrible in totals but great in averages due to all the IR time he spent.
