System suffers from random freezing and slow loads (color spin ball). It all began with appleworks not working at all and then continued to grow.I have run disk utilities (All,including "Scavenge" which I learned from this web site"),Disk Warrior. Both report all is fine.I downloaded and ran a program called Mac HelpMate which I found out about on one of the forums here.It does rebuilds as well as cache cleaning. When I try to run what they call a "Deep cache cleaning" my system reports "Applescript error:The variable ddmin is not defined (-2753)",and wont let me run the cleaning.bobw helped me with a problem early on when "Repair disk permissions" would not complete. He had me remove iTunes pkg files (With a couple of exceptions) from Library>Receipts. That problem was resolved (Appleworks is now functioning).I have backed up all iTunes and photo files on disk and removed them from the HD.The problems continue.I glean from the forums that all I have left to try is to create a new disk from which to operate and or reinstall osx (Which would require a full back up).I have no idea how to safely perform these functions.I have searched the forums for the quick answers but to no avail. Can you help? Or can you suggest a publication that would give me instructions (In layman's terms) to perform these tasks.Sorry for the lengthy explanation but I wanted to be sure to offer a full picture.Thank you,in advance, for your help.
