eMac Display problem

I have a "dancing" display problem and I just wanted to know if anyone else have same problem as me.

It's only been a good month since I've used my eMac. I tried to figure out what was wrong (i.e. find some strong intereference from a cell phone or some type of device) and that doesn't seem to be the case.

I called the Apple Store that I purchased my eMac from and they said that they will do a diagnostic check and repair it for me.

Hopefully it's free. (Since there is a 1 year warranty unless I am mistaken.)

Don't want to sound alarmist but...
This seems to be an ongoing problem with Apple flat CRT displays (I think they are made by LG) The old 17" CRT Studio displays (including mine) had this problem casued by poor soldering of the flyback high voltage transformers.

Go to the eMac support forum there are several threads about this.

Apple will fix this under warrenty, if you didn't get the applecare plan it might be a good idea. I was considering getting an eMac but I'm not so sure after this. I spoke to a guy at my local Apple store he said they haven't had an eMac returned with this problem, but it does seem to be fairly widespread.

I am actually posting a reply about this at Apple Store while I get my new eMac.

The salesperson made me wait for so long that he had the nerve to "upsell." Not necessary upsell but I ended up paying $100 because apparently, they don't have the same eMac model that I have. So now, I end up with an eMac with a combo drive. Not bad but it's something I don't need.

I didn't have to pay $100 if I want them to ship it out to fix it somewhere else (which would take a week). I have data on my computer that I need and I don't suppose that they'll give me the HD by itself.

To end this ranting short, I am merely upset because I won't be able to do something about it but pay $100 just so I can go on with my eMac-ing self. Watching DVDs is probably not too bad... but still.

they should be able to copy all your files over to the new emac though... i would think anyways

emacs are great deals, better deals than the towers by far, and IMO better screens than imacs (im not a fan of lcd because of color correctness etc compared to final output of a printer)

Guess what guys? After exchanging my old eMac for a new one (Combo Drive) - I discovered that there was a copy of Jaguar inside the box! I couldn't believe it!

I guess it wasn't that bad after all. I'll get to use Jaguar before they even start selling it!

(I lost all my data though) :(
