I have an eMac that used to connect to a NetGear network just fine
via Airport. The eMac has been off for several months. We turned it on and it does not get an IP from the router. Three other computers, two wireless, get an IP just fine.
The eMac does 'see' the NetGear network (asks if I want to connect to XYZ network)...however, after 'trying' to connect, it reports an error, can't connect.
When I launch Safari and can't connect, I run the Network Diagnostics it offers. The Diagnostics say the Netgear network is WEP enabled...and I need a password. The NetGear is definitely NOT WEP enabled. I can access the Wifi network from both a PC laptop and a 15" Al laptop.
I tried turning on WEP via the Netgear, then off again. The eMac
Diagnostics keeps saying WEP enabled enter password.
I have done a PRAM reset (command option P R).
I've run AppleJack, tried a new User, checked the signal with iStumbler.
I've restarted the Netgear...no go yet.
Could this be caused by a corrupted file on the eMac?
TIA!
