Enough screen real estate on a 12" Powerbook?

For you developers who use 12" Powerbooks as your tool of choice.

Do you ever find yourself craving for a larger screen?

I myself typically have up to 5 consoles, an IDE and a browser (tabbed like Mozilla) running and that's only for work (doesn't count my email, IM, etc). I'm worried that the 12" is too small to be effective as a main development machine.

I would probably connect an external monitor for dual display when sitting at the desk but that's not an option when I want to be portable.

To be honest, yes. I took my 12'' PB to WWDC and it was great, but after using a few other people's 15'' PB's i have decided to get one.

there are times I think I'd want the 12" due to its small size.

And I believe that if you do a lot of code side work, and stay away from the visual design side of things (graphics, web pages, etc - where you need screen real estate), you'd be just fine with the 1024/768 12" display.

if you do much visual work, you'll most likely find yourself frustrated when you don't have a dual-display setup available.

just my $.02
