I am a new Mac user and just purchased the Mac Book Pro. I've only had it for about a week, and I installed Office 2004 (Student/Teacher Edition) with no problems, but whenever I try to open Entourage, I get an error saying "This identity cannot be opened with this version of Entourage". I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, but I still get the same message. Any help would be really appreciated so I can get my email up and running! Thanks!
 
By any chance did you have and use the trial 30 day version of MS Office, before purchasing your current version?
The identities are stored in the document folder. You can try to delete the identity from there. Also, there is a way to rebuilt Entourage with a key combo, like ctrl & R or something.

Thanks! I'll give it a try tomorrow. I opened the trial version maybe once or twice but never really used it. Would that have affected it? Unfortunately I can't do anything on my Mac right now since there is a cd stuck in the superdrive and it is being fixed. Hope to have it back tomorrow...all of this is kind of pain since I live in Africa! Not exactly a huge support system here...
 
Office 2004 includes an uninstaller, which is required to remove the trial version. As was implied by powermac's post, you must uninstall the trial version to use the one you paid for.

This message usually means, for example, that Entourage is at 11.0, but the saved database was saved in Entourage 11.3.3. Since there was a database format change in there, Entourage 11.0 cannot open a database saved in Entourage 11.3.3.

Update Entourage and the Identity will open.
