Epson 1270 photo printer problems w/ OS X

I have a G4 350 Mhz system with OSX installed (10.2.6). I also had an Epson 740 printer, which worked fine with OSX. A few weeks ago, I bought a better printer on ebay, an Epson 1270 photo printer. At the same time, I retired my Microtek scanner (scsi), for an Epson perfection 1650 scanner. I dutifully downloaded the correct drivers from the Epson site before I started using the peripherals. The printer worked for a few days with no problems, but now will shut down my application (Photoshop, Painter, etc.) when I try to open an existing file. If I open a new file it will let me, but then when I try to print, it will close the application and say "this application unexpectedly quit".

Also, the scanner will no longer work in Photoshop, although it will work in ImageReady. It will start scanning an image and then will close PS when it is done scanning without saving the image.
I will call Epson tomorrow to see if they have any ideas. Has anyone here had problems of this kind?

The problem is that Epson Scanner driver is for
OS 10.2 - 10.2.3, while it seems like it may not make a difference, it could be the reason for your trouble.

I suggest you un install the Epson scanner files. They are probably in the Library folder (not the system library). Use
VueScan 7.6.46 for your scanner.

Then Use Disk Utility and go to First Aide and run the repair permissions. If that does not fix things, try Print Center Repair 3.0 and run that.

Thanks Cheryl, I tried the print center repair, (which reset the print center) and it worked great. Now I can use the Epson printer and scanner in Photoshop and all my other applications except for Painter 7. I uninstalled Painter 7, and will be getting Painter 8 soon, so hopefully that problem will be resolved also.
