Dear all,

I managed to get past the problem of my printer not working
when I updated to 10.3 to 10.4... Gimp Print seemed to be dodgey
so I extracted the Epson drivers of the Panther discs and installed
them into the latest OS...

However... my problem is that when printing out in 'photo' mode
onto photo paper etc... the photo's are very washed out, only way
of getting past this at present is to oversature 'big time' the images
so that once output they almost look ok, but not perfect !!

Has anyone else encountered this problem, ink carts are ok and
this problem was like this with my last set of carts.

Hope someone can help

Thanks in advance...

Are you using the Epson USB driver or the plain USB one (which is Gimp-Print)? To get to the Epson USB choice, click More Printers in the ADD dialog.

Thank you for your reply,

The driver I am using was extracted from disk 3 of the 10.3 set of
install disks (using Pacifist) - I'm guessing that it is the epson one ??

Problem only appeared when I went from 10.3 to 10.4 - epson color
stopped working - kept coming up with some 'gimp error' so I hunted
out the driver as mentioned above... all seems to work okay but all
the colours are washed out - same as de-saturating in photoshop etc...

It is easy to know for certain which driver you are using. When you ADD in Printer Setup, you must select "Epson USB" as the protocol to get the Epson-provided driver(s). In Tiger, you can only make this choice after clicking More Printers.
