Equation editor problems in Office 2004

Hi - In files created by Powerpoint X, when I open them in powerpoint 2004, the symbols in the equations show up as black boxes. However, if I double click on the equation and the Equation editor starts up, in the Equation editor window, the equation looks fine. I can also create new equations in the file without a problem. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks. - Mark

It seems to me that you already have your fix. Each file that you down-convert from .pptx to .ppt will have to be tweaked in PowerPoint 2004. This is hardly the first time that a Microsoft application did not convert files perfectly. It will not be the last.
