Erasing Partition/One hard drive issue

I used to have tiger osx and I partitioned my hard drive because I used to use bootcamp. I upgraded to the leopard and realized that I no longer needed the partition... So a friend of mine changed the pc portion to a space where I could just use it to back up.

I want to remove my partition and place all of my space back on to one drive my mac hard drive. If I erase unused portion of the hard drive in the disk utility, what will it do?

I guess what I'm really trying to ask is how do remove my partition and put all my space back to my osx?

Any help would be appreciated.

Open Boot Camp assistant (Applications/Utilities) and use this to remove this partition.

i can't it says The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows.
