Error code 36

I was trying to transfer files from the internal hard drive to a flash drive
and I got a pop up telling me that the funtion could not be completed do to error code 36.

How is that flash drive formatted?
How big is the file?
If it's FAT32 and file is > 2 GB that is normal...
Is the flash drive mounted locally?
What does Console show (under /Applications/Utilities)? Launch that, try copying the file again and post the errors it generates.

There are a number of reasons why this error can happen so please give a bit more information... (and not always can it be solved).
