.exe files

brand new to mac. just got my macbook today.

how do i change the security setting to download .exe files? i was able to download firefox, and everytime i double click it, nothing happens. i did a search for DOWNLOADING, but nothing there seemed to help me. :|
 
Did you download the Mac version? It should be a .dmg file, not a .exe

If your machine is brand new I can't imagine you've done something to make it fail to understand .dmg files.
 
Files that end with .exe are only executable files for Windows. You have to download the Mac version of whatever software you're looking to install.
