192.168.1.x
400mbs - Firenet
</pre>

The 192.168.0.x (netmask 255.255.0.0) segment works without
problems, all computers, even without the router turned on.

I am unable to get the Firenet working at all, software is enabled
properly, the netmask is set to 255.255.0.0.

The EN1 interface comes up and on at least the G4 machine, its MAC address
is spotted.

The mtu values of the two Firewire interfaces are different, g3=1010 & g4=2034,
these have been set to 1010 on both.

The Network Utility states that the interface is running at 400mbs, but
autonegotiation is still running.

>> ifconfig en1

I have tried this with all kinds of subnet masks - no go.

There is a firewall, but has been disabled so that testing is un-interupted.

Appletalk has been disabled on the FireNet interface, it did not work with it
enabled either?, so that I can use NFS on the Firewire interface. This way I can use
Appletalk on the Ethernet interfaces and still have volumes mounted using NFS. There is
a limitation on what ports Appletalk can be enabled on at the same time without routing
enabled.

The network Interface from the System Preferences was used to set this up, the text above is
to back up whats been said.

Anybody got any ideas as to why this is not working, I'm stumped (thats a cricket term,
behind the 8 ball to most of you).

Cheers

UniBrian PooNet (UniBrain FireNet) I could not get to work at all, some MAC addresses got passed and that was all. you can take a look using "netstat -rn" in a terminal window.

To ease things a little, I downloaded the ADC IPoverFireWire.

Its worked once, but only just given the scenario above, but in the end Darwin gets very lost and everything grinds to an unuseable halt.

I have ditched the thought of IP over FireWire, currently the software/drivers is/are too primitive to be of use on a real working environment.

Its a bit sad Solaris was a breeze too setup multiple interfaces, MacOSX at this point sux a bit.
