I am new to the world of Macs. I have just purchased a 17" Intel iMac and ordered the mini DVI to VGA convertor to connect my Dell 2005FPW as an extended display.
My iMac can see the display but only sees it as a VGA display. The options for screen resolution do not match the native display of the Dell. My PC runs the Dell at 1680 x 1050 but the iMac does not show this as an option (nearest i can get is 1400 x 1050) and it does not look correct.
Are there drivers for the correct display I can install?
My Dell has DVI and VGA inputs, should I have purchased the mini DVI to DVI and connected to that and used the VGA from the PC?
