Extensions in Safari

I have OS X 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.1. I downloaded an extension today and I can find it in my Extension Folder in Preferences menu, extensions are enabled but it doesn't appear anywhere on the Safari toolbar or in the drop-downs - so I am unable to use it.

Is it not installed correctly or am I looking in the wrong place? This is the first one I've tried to install and would like to know what I'm doing wrong.
 
New day, new dawn. It now occurred to me that I should actually open the browser and look at that and I've found the extension installed correctly to the left of the address bar.

I'm new to Mac and just feeling my way round. Sometimes not thinking straight or logically!
