I have a G4 mac and is about 6 years old. I have 2 external hard drives (LaCie) attached to it via FireWire. Last night I came home and my computer was turned off (not sure when it got turned off...I don't remember doing it!) and when I booted it up, neither hard drive was recognized. Strangely, when I click "FireWire" under System Profiler nothing shows up when there is a drive attached. It just acts like it is still searching for the ports. When there is no drive attached, under firewire it says: "FireWire Bus:
Maximum Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec"
I tried both drives on my laptop where they load fine so I am not sure what's going on with my desktop firewire port. I tried resetting the PRAM (reboot with Command-Option-P-R pressed) but that didn't work either.
I've unplugged everything and turned the computer off for 10 minutes but that didnt work.
Please help with other ideas!
