Hello,

I purchased my first ibook about 9months ago. Last week it crashed and now wont turn on. I was using an external HD (Western Digital Dual 2.0 USB) with my ibook with no problems. Now while I wait for my ibook to come out of surgery I have another laptop im using in the meanwhile. It is an older power book pc, g4, 10.2.8 , 663mghz... Well I connected my external HD and the laptop makes noise, the HD makes noise like its being read, then nothing. Ihave already tried to add a new user account and turning it off and on , resetting the PRAM , now here is the odd part,

When I select ABOUT THIS MAC, and click on MORE INFO... Under Devices and Volumes... It shows USB 1 with and arrow pointing to[WD 1600BB External 0602] External HDD... Thats my ext.model number,,,

So what going on.. Why cant I see an Icon on desktop, or when i select My hard Drive... I cant see the drive anywhere,....

Thank you in advance any support

The computers Hard Drive Icon is displayed on the desktop, it the external hard drive that I am trying to access. That External HD icon is not showing up. I have checked the preferences in the Finder and all the boxes are checked : Hard disks, Removable media, and connected Servers..

??? Any other tips?
