Hi! Newbie to this board and quite frustrated right now. Not because of you guys, but because I have a massive issue.
I have a PowerMac G4 Version 1.2.4 933 MHz running OSX 10... I installed software updates (sorry, I remember QuickTime was one and maybe iTunes, but nothing else), and when I restarted the computer I got the gray Apple screen with the black bar of death above it. I did everything I could to try to fix it, (reset the PRAM, blah blah), but it came down to having to reinstall with the install disk. I did that. Our Mac HD is showing, but our storage HD is not. It is internal and I do not know the stats on it because I do not have that information right now. I cannot repair permissions because Disk Utility doesn't even show that when I click on it. I did the Hardware Test and got an error for the logic board and memory: unet /5/16 post/16/2048 DIMM1/J22.
I have already come to the conclusion that all my files are gone. No biggie since I am a video editor and still have the tapes.
So what do I need to do now to get the disk to show? Go into the machine and reseat the drive?
Thanks a lot!
