added a friend on Facebook and we can both never see when each other is online on chat.. we both never pop up green and it always says he's unavailable, even when he's on

please help! its very annoying

Has he set himself available when he's in FB? If you don't enable FB chat and set yourself available, you'll show unavailable.
Also if he's got an iPhone, he could try with the Facebook Messenger app to see if you show in the standalone app and vice versa.
