I recently lost quite a lot of my hi-res pictures of my digital photo collection. I had to install a new MacOS X on my machine. I thought copying the folder "iPhoto Library" would do the job entirely for backing up all my digital hi-res photos
... I thought ... easy ... no problem ...
... well it seems I was wrong.
When I finished the installation of MacOS X. I simply copied the folder "iPhoto Library" back to its location on my new and clean OS X Jaguar system.
... after I have imported a couple of other images from my digital camera by using iPhoto I realised that my hi-res images of some of my precious and indispensable photos were missing. I searched all around on my hardisk and browsed through endless folders within the "iPhoto Library" to look for my hi-res pictures ...
...
well ...
... 30 minutes later
...
... "and I felt like uurggg" ...
... "half of my pictures were gone" ...
... "and that were really some photos"
... and I thought ...
Ooooooooooooh nooooooooo! I lost a huge collection of some of my precious and most beloved digital photos ...
... the only thing that is left of my "welcome to the digital nirvana photos" is a small thumbnail. Thank you Apple folks! I guess I can use them for creating photo "postage stamps" in the future ...
... uuuurgggg ...
... that hurts ...
I talked about this issue with an Apple guy who does trainings for OS9 and Windows switchers. He told me that Apple is aware of this problem ....
... aaarrrghh
... Gosh, I really trusted you guys! When will you stop releasing such buggy and half-finished software. I hope you will fix the problem BEFORE you release iPhoto 2! Folks, I really don´t know how your brain sometimes functions but I believe backing up a library of an application such as iPhoto for collecting and organizing digital pictures should be as easy as dragging a folder! End of story.
I have "switched" to iView MediaPro because I have lost my faith in your digital photo application since this catastrophe. By using iView MediaPro at least I know, in which folder my hi-res pictures reside and I can easily backup and copy my libraries just like dragging a folder ...
