I am managing a rather large network. it contains about 20 macs on one switch and 20 macs on another. I have a fibre link between these switches but i cannot get any communication down the cable.
here is the configuration:
20macs connected to planet fgsw-2402rs smart switch.
This switch contains a 1gb fiber sx module.
20 macs connected to a planet fgsw-2402 standard switch
This switch contains a 1gb fiber sx module.
The switches are connected to each other with fiber optic approx 100meters.
here are my observations:
Any mac can talk to any other mac on the same switch.
When i plug in the fiber cable the 'link' LEDs light up on the standard switch. The smart switch doesn't have any LEDs so i'm not sure if there is a connection.
The fiber cables emit a red light at both ends.
what do you suggest i do?
