I'm trying to connect to another G5 of similar spec and a PC (XP Pro)
Briefly (but probably overkill for you),
(1) Turn all computer firewalls off, and turn your router firewall on.
(2) Enable Window Sharing and Personal File Sharing on your Macs; (b) share a folder on you PC--preferably "My Documents;" and use all the usual PC techniques for getting a network going--i.e., the network wizard and "Adding a Network Place" (and there are other possibilities).
(3) Connect to your PC and from Mac to Mac by clicking home folder in the dock, clicking network, eventually choosing the machine you want to connect to, double clicking the machine, and entering your Mac username and password if asked. Connect to you Macs from the PC in My Network Places.
(4) Use the Directory Access utility on your Macs to make sure the SMB/CIFS box is checked. After doing so, it sometimes helps, and can't hurt, to double click on the SMB/CIFS line and make sure your Macs and PC are in the same workgroup.
You may have some trouble. So, post back if you want more help getting going. I don't, as of yet, have any insights into keeping File Sharing ticked.
