Finder Crashes when I run PS CS4

When I run Photoshop CS4, Finder crashes. Then it offers nothing but the spinning color wheel, and my only option is to manually turn off my computer (which seems bad for my hard drive.)

I've made no major changes to my system lately, nor have I downloaded/installed anything recently.

What is the issue? Finder? CS4? Tiger?

I need to fix this immediately, all help is welcomed.

First things first. Go to utilities/disk utility. Select your drive and repair disk permissions for a couple runs, meaning after its finished do it again. Then while still in disk utility hit the button to verify the disk and see if any issues pop up. I imagine there will be some issues from the power button shut downs.
