hi all
my dock keeps on freezing, it goes 'sticky' when running the cursor over it with magnification on, then it freezes on an icon. i can unfreeze by opening a new finder window (apple+n). but its annoying..

anyone have any ideas??

running tiger 10.4 on g4 733megs, 512 ram.

Have you tried to trash the dock plist and preferences?
If not try that and log in and out and see if that solves the program.

thanks
er no.. can you talk me through that, i'm new to osx and the lack of a sys folder (like os9) has got me a little lost..

Sure you can use spotlight to locate the files: Here is where they are stored:
dock plist: /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences

Trash that file and do a log out and back in a see what happens.

Trash both Dock and Finder preference files;

co.apple.Dock.plist

com.apple.Finder.plist

Run Repair Permissions from Disk Utility in your Utility folder, then boot off the Tiger disc by holding the C key. Choose the Language and go to the next screen, don't select anything in that window, go up to the Utility Menu to Disk Utility and run Reapir Disk.

thanks will try that,

BTW whats the diference between the library on the hard drive and the one in the user?? both contain pref folder, plus lots of other similar stuff??

regards
