Finder freezes on launch "trying to connect to server"

When the finder launches at logon, it automatically tries to connect to my other mac and instantaneously freezes with the spinning beach ball of death.

I have no idea why its trying to automatically connect to my other mac...

I tried deleting my ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist file but that didn't do it.

Any other ideas?

as a work around, I ran

sudo ifconfig en0 down

to shut down my connection. then i relaunched the finder and it doesn't try and connect to the file server since there is no network connection.

next time though, it will try and connect and end up frozen again in a never ending loop
