Hello,

Whenever I open finder, it opens a window of the desktop that hangs - it can be moved around but no buttons on the window can be pressed, etc. I can open other finder windows (not of the desktop) via quicksilver that work like normal, though. I have relaunched finder and restarted my computer but this problem still exists, and Ctrl + W doesn't close the window.

I am using the most recent MacBook Pro 13 and am running OS 10.6.4 on it, if that helps.

The picture enclosed is of such a window.

Thanks for help everyone!

Oddly enough, I resolved this issue by deleting an invisible, no name file on the desktop - which I found was named DragToInstall2.localized by selecting it then pressing ctrl+I - which I stumbled upon by pressing Ctrl+A when on the desktop. It, by itself, didn't delete by drag and drop, since it couldn't be selected by a click. I deleted it by ctrl+delete, and took some screenshots to show the file, which displays itself as a folder and says that its creation and modification date is September 1st, 2009 (creation=9:28 PM and modification is 9:33 PM). The file is 172 KB.

After deleting this file - not necessarily off the system but just by moving it to the trash - the finder window showed my desktop normally, with all buttons on the toolbar working (unlike above).

Does anybody have any idea what this is all about?
