Finding old Macs

goonies never say die
Does anyone know of a few good websites, besides Ebay and going to a local thrift store, of where I can buy some vintage Apple computers and peripherals? I am starting to collect older Macs and seeing if I can get them up and running again. A few months ago I found a Macintosh SE and a 20SC hardrive, and was able to install System 6 on it. I found a weird monkey sound in the control panels and I think that it'd be a good idea for Apple to bring it back and include it in 10.4.

Haha! The old monkey. :)

Well... I'd put an ad in the local newspaper classifieds say your looking for some old Macintosh systems... this could be a way to get some awesome deals on old equipment for little money or even free. Say, "We Will Pick It Up" or something like that.

Depending upon where you live, some towns have "used computer" places that may have some old parts and this or that around, even systems.

My brother-in-law gave me his old Mac SE - he didn't have any keyboards or mice w/ it, but I just happen to have two sets of these old massive keyboards and mice in my collection, so not a problem.

They often have Macs for sale at ridiculous prices because they don't know what they are worth.

Also, when I am at clients working, I always ask if they have a 'closet'. You know, the one where all the old computers go to die and wait for dust to eat them. Most companies will readily give them away.

I do the same thing as you want to. I have a basement full of older Macs and always looking for more.

Schools (at least my school, in Australia) tend to sell their old Macs with minimal working pieces because they're starting to be unusable.

I have a pretty whopping collection of old Macs, LCs, Classics, Performas, the like, and they're very novel :).

The "EEP" noise and the Sosumi sounds both belong in OSX.

They are the definition of the OS6/7 experience :).

Well, pre 7.5 when the Apple menu couldn't open submenus and things.

Any interest in a Fat Mac (with Apple Hard Disk 20), Mac SE/30, or Mac IIx? My Dad's office has been using Macs since 1986, and has several old machines in a storage room.
