I'm the lone Mac in a PC-o-centric company. Clearly I'm not going to get help from the IT department so I am REALLY glad to find this website!
I'm a long-time Machead, but this problem has me stumped.
Basically, I can't access certain finishing features (stapling, 2-sided printing) on our Canon ImageRunner 5570. After installing the latest Canon PS driver (1.5 something) and set it up according to Canon's instructions my print dialog box now has the special Canon-specific features and tabs. But... the special features I want are displayed but greyed out.
Mac is a Mini with 10.4 with all available updates, plenty of RAM, HD space, etc. Printer has own local IP address and has TCP/IP on same subnet and Appletalk networking is enabled. All other PC's are able to access these finishing features.
During the setup process of "adding" a printer, the printer setup tool is able to correctly identify the model of the printer.
One possible confounding factor: I am running Thursby's DAVE software to access our local file server. I doubt this is the problem, however, because the printer is correctly discovered and identified, it's just that those particular options are disabled.
I have deleted all printing pref files (com.apple.print, etc.).
What oh what can the problem be! Argh!!!
