I am running Firefox 2.0 on a Panther machine and find that it doesn't work well. If I have a browser open for a while and then try to enter a field on a form, it won't let me. Same goes for the address bar at the top. I can't enter where you are supposed to type in the URL. I can't even select the text.

If I open a new browser it sometimes solves the problem. Sometimes I have to quit and relaunch Firefox. But it happens again after a period of time.
 
Have you tried upgrading to version 2.0.0.1 which was released recently? They might have fixed some of the issues you're having. If that still doesn't fix it, you can give either SeaMonkey (the continuance of the Mozilla Suite with Firefox's features) or Camino a try.
