ive been reading some articles about firewire 2, seems its back compadible with firewire 1 with a small male/female attachement. the big news is that its a minimal of 800 mbps..... say goodbye to usb 2.0...
Yeah. USB is great for things like keyboards and mice and things that don't need high throughput, but FireWire 2 will totally beat the **** out of USB 2.
I believe it's called "Gigawire", since Apple patented that name recently. I wonder when it's set to be standard on Macs though. I hope, come MWNY this year, Apple begins to put it standard on all Macs across the line since it's backward compatible. That would rock.
I've been waiting on that for a while now (a little after I first heard of USB 2.0) and have actually been holding off an a Firewire card or USB 2.0 card for both my PCs or my Mac because I want one card to have USB 2.0 and Firewire 2 (thought it was going to be named "b"?).
