firewire 800 perm termination?

Why did apple discontinue the fw800 on its MacBookPro series? Is it tru that it will be terminating it completelly even in the IntelMac desktops? Perhaps eSata has come to take care of things?
 
Since the MacBook Pro is a new computer line, it never had FW800 to be discontinued. As for Apple's plans for its desktops, the company never preannounces features. Anyone who will tell you what Apple will or will not include in its Intel-based desktops or any other computer line is either lying or sharing speculation.
 
Isnt MBpro the PB update? What could be the next step as far as cpu is concerned? I cant think of anything else other than dcore on apples laptops!
