Firewire and scanner problem

Just bought Epson 2450 scanner. Has USB and Firewire. Works in USB mode booting from 10.1.2 or 9.2.2. Works with Firewire if booted from 9.2.2, but not from 10.1.2 going to 9.2.2. Using Epson Twain and Photoshop 6. Apple System Profiler sees the scanner in both systems. Problem occurs from 10.1.2. Any ideas?
Also- how to get back to 10.1.1?

well going back to 10.1.1 is easy enough although i must preface that apple reccomends against the method i will suggest. however myself and other site members have done it successfully with no covert problems. so use this advice at your own risk.

simply start with your original install disk and install over the top of your current build. continue doing all updates until you get to the version you want. all your preferences should still be intact.

alternate method suggested by apple is to reformat your hd and reinstall.

as long as you have any important data backed up, there seems little to risk by just reinstalling first.

as for the scanner, i would call epson and see if any firmware updates might be needed
