I have an ibook with osx 10.2.8 running on it and have run into a problem recently with my external firewire drive. Osx keeps mounting on the desktop with duplicate names of the volume: ex: hard drive: hard drive 1: hard drive 2, its only made it up to 2 so far but everytime this happens iTunes cannot find the music I have stored on it and it must all be added back to the library losing all of my personalizations to each song. I have used the terminal and it lists the drive with the actual volume name. I guess the other volumes are still mounted someway but i can not figure out how to unmount them. They are listed under macintosh hd/volumes wich is greyed out and only viewable through itunes when prompted with finder for importing files. I am baffled I have tried everthing I can think of to fix this but nothing ever works. any suggestions?
