Hello,
A few months ago I had to reinstall MacOSX from my CD, so I chose to keep my home directory intact (archive and install option). This created a folder Previous Systems in my root directory. Everything was running fine until yesterday, when I decided to
sudo rm -rf /Previous\ Systems
to save a free a few gigabytes. Now, every time I restart the computer it stays on the white screen with the grey apple for a good 8 minutes before statting OSX. But it is quick from the time the blue screen appears.
So, I tried to restart using the OS9 startup disk, but all I got was a flasing question mark on the screen. I had no idea what to do. So, I reinstalled OSX again from the CD and archived the previous system files. Again everything was okay until I removed the Previous Systems folder. Now the problem has started again.
What's wrong with my computer? I thought the system didn't mess with the files in that folder. I looked everywhere on the web but couldn't find an answer. I called Apple care but they couldn't help me except suggest that I back up my data and do a clean installation. Anyone ever seen this problem?
Thanks,
Raman
