Flashing Symbol While on the Dock is Driving me NUTS!

Is there anyway to make the iPod stop flashing that damn red circle graphic with a diagonal line (No symbol) while it's in the dock? I have to turn the dock around backwards just so I can't see the screen. It does this the entire time it's plugged in whether I run iTunes or not. (It's a 30 GB 5th gen iPod)

There's not much you can do about it, short of installing linux, or using a post-it.
 
It's like that but that red symbol constantly flashes every second and is soooooooo distracting to have to look at (since I keep my iPod next to my monitor)
 
If you're done tranferring music to it, you can eject it via iTunes or a Finder window. You won't have access to it again until you reconnect it, but it'll still charge.
