Folder Actions: what can we do with this feature?

Are you referring to the AppleScript Folder Actions kit? This can let you trigger a script that will perform some action whenever something is changed in a folder. For instance, when an image is placed in a folder, the folder actions script will automatically create a thumbnail copy. Or anytime a file is dropped in another folder it is automatically added into a compressed backup archive.

Is that what you mean?

Yep, I guess that's what he meant. It's a great feature from OS 9 (improved, I hope) that I've never really used. But basically, you can create whole workflows. For example: If you make three new pictures with your digicam, you can drop those into a folder, and the actions would then go to Photoshop to scale and crop them, pass them on to an InDesign layout and mail the resulting file to the printing service bureau. (Ideally, it would also send an SMS to your contact person there to check his E-Mail, check your bank account about the money etc. :P)
