Font Issues - cannot add a new font

Mac OS X 10.5.8

I am having trouble with fonts, when i try to install them via Font Book.

1. Download some fonts from dafont.com and urbanfonts.com into my hard disk
2. Double-click the font in the Finder. Font Book opens and displays the font
3. Click Install Font.
4. Opens the window-Font Validation: Problems may have been found with some fonts during validation.

I've always been able to install fonts this way :S

I tried .ttf and Font Suitcase. Nothing seems to work

This is odd, Id check permissions and see if that works.
