Gone !
Hello,
French philosopher André Glucksmann is a well-known left-wing philosopher, who spent many years fighting against Russian massacres in Chechnya.
Last year, he wrote Dostoievski in Manhattan (Dostoievski à Manhattan, Paris, éd. Robert Laffont, 2001), which explains why he sees some possible parallel between nihilism and terrorism.
André Glucksmann is one of the very few French intellectuals to support war and to claim it. You can listen to an interview of Glucksmann here (Real Media file). If you understand French, that's worth listening.
I may write down and translate Glucksmann's interviw on request. Tell me
For my own, I totally understand Glucksmann's anger towards Saddam Hussein. I also agree when he explains that Bush, although aiming at doing right (overthrow a dictator), has been extremely awkward in his foregin policy. But still, I'm opposed to Glucksmann, as I don't see the solution he proposes as a long-term solution. Plus, I think Glucksmann voluntarily eludes the consequences of war, which is not very honest IMHO.
