My mac recently has slowed down drastically, with there being problems with iTunes, Firefox, and Safari. When either loading a web page or attempting to drag some mp3s into iTunes, I will encounter a load error, and the programs will time out. When attempting to either restart the programs or Force Quit I cannot do either, and the lag leads to frustration, and the only effective method that I've encountered (it freezes for a very long time) is to manually restart. I also get a -600 error sometimes when I attempt to restart the programs.
I run a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with Mac OSX 10.5.8
With purportedly no known viruses for OSX I was wondering if anyone could offer up a remedy for these problems, thank you.
