Found OS X trick

twister

Howdy
Ok so maybe ya'll know this but i thought it was spiffy. If your in the finder and hit Apple + Up you get a window opened to your home. Apple + Up again your in Users, once more and your at your computer.

I thought that was kinda fun.

Twister

apple+up brings you one step closer to your root folder .... not to your home directory. it's been that way forever even in system 7 (I think)

try the cmmnd option {letter} those are pretty cool..there are some pretty neat ones, use all the keys on your keyboard

Be careful though. I once tried Command-Option-Control-Escape and Delete, and my whole house disappeared.

 I better not do that. It's not my house.

Will it make work go away though?

While in a window with "list" view, if you press command-right arrrow, it'll expand the folder down, rather than open it in a separate window. Command-left flips it back. how's THAT for hidden?

been able to do that since system 7

But if you don't have any finder windows open and press cmd + up it will open a finder window in your home directory. Of course, cmd+shift+h will do this even if you already have finder windows open, but it works nonetheless! :) This is because if you don't have any windows open you are "in" your desktop folder, I suppose, and one level higher is your home directory.

yes, actually your 'desktop' is a finder window expanded and without borders, if i remember the user-interface mailling list (sadly killed by apple) correctly.
