Full-screen Movies/Games on second screen?

I'm trying to figure out how to get this work, as I've seen t done. I have a Early-2008 Model MacBook with a... I think it's a 19" ACER widescreen monitor hooked up dua-screen. Works marvelously, but I want it to play my movies and games, preferably without the laptop screen going black. Currently, playing a fullscreen game has the external screen go black and it plays on the laptop. Yuck!

Hints, tips, suggestions?
 
Edit: So I... sort of figured it out. I know that games can't be played on it now. BUT. The movie's able to be played fullscreen until I click something on my main screen. Is there a way to stop this? It kind of defeats the purpose.
 
Just use "Fit to Screen" in QuickTime and VLC. Simply place the video player in the screen you want. Whether that works with games or not, I do not know--I do not game . . .
