This isn't so much a problem or question as it is just an observation.
So I was doing some work with MS Excel (2004) and it seems to save the last location you saved to and saves new stuff there. So if I previously saved a workbook to ~/Documents/ then the next time I save something else it will use that as the default location.
Well, I had been saving things to a directory we'll call ~/docs/ just for clarity. I got tired of everything in 'docs' and threw it in the trash. Some time later, I was working in Excel again and I saved my work. Well, as you may guess, it saved it to the Trash! When I went looking for it, I assumed it was in ~/Documents, but when it wasn't I fired up spotlight (great stuff) and thats where it was. I was amazed at that oversight.
In this case it wasn't a big deal, but could have been if I'd been inclined to empty my trash.
Perhaps other apps do this as well, as I've not tested this past this experience.
Anyway, just an FYI.
