g3 iBook frozen trackpad

I have the same experience and problems with the Trackpad on this iBook. It has frozen on me a number of times - and just done it again. Went to the forum here - and am taking other users suggestions and will try putting machine to sleep, disconnecting mouse..etc. Cross your fingers since the Trackpad no longer appears in the Preferences pane! Thanks, chance
