When I boot my G3 Pismo PowerBook I hear the startup sound, but then just get a white screen. I can hear the hard drive quietly spinning. I've tried power manager reset, verbose mode, single-user mode, open firmware mode, startup manager mode and still just get white screen.
I hooked it up to an external monitor and tried:
normal boot: can see desktop background image and mouse but no icons. And when I try commands to open folder etc nothing appears.
command-v: same as normal boot
command-s: can't see anything. but I typed "reboot" and hit enter and lo and behold it did reboot!
More info:
The first time I booted and discovered this problem, I heard what I think was the hard drive spinning very fast. I forget if it stopped first, or if I re-booted before it stopped.
Let's see, what else...
OK, I left it in the trunk of my car the other day and it was very cold. But I didn't think cold would be bad.
Sounds like a video card problem, right? Is there any way I can "reset" the VRAM or something?
