G4 AGP CPU Upgrade

Trying to do a Sonnet Duet 1.8 upgrade on my G4. Currently a 400mhz processor.

It went rather easy

Carefully followed instructions, firmware up to date every thing was good on boot up.

But ..... the machine freezes after a while with the new Sonnet CPU.

Took out the new CPU and put back the old one every thing works fine with that one.

Any one ever run into this king of problem? Any help or info would be appreciated.

I'm having the same issue. I put the Sonnet Duet 1.8 in my AGP G4 (formerly dual 500) last week and have about 2 or 3 hard freezes a day now - no spinning wheel, just locked screen.

Firmware, etc are all good. As far as I can tell, the chip doesn't seem to be running hot (the interior of the Mac is fairly cool in fact).

I'm also guessing that the firmware update is creating a conflict with my RTMac card, which I still use for my second monitor. The system sees a multimedia card in the slot, but cannot ID it and the software for it will not load.

Any help on either would be great. I am guessing that I may have to send the card back to Sonnet, but it seems like a few people have similar problems.
