G4 Upgrade for Jaguar beige G3: Where's the cache?

I just purchased a G4 ZIF upgrade for my aging Mac, and the chip seems to be working fine. However, when I go into Apple System Profiler, it tells me that the CPU has 0K of L2 cache. Is this a symptom of something wrong, or is this just how ASP runs when you drop a G4 ZIF into this machine?

FYI, I have PowerLogix's Cache Control X 2.1b4 installed and running, and it seems to tell me that I have cache, and that it's enabled. I'm just not sure who to believe: the OS or the utility.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I would believe the PowerLogix since the Apple System Profiler may be using a system call not present on the Beige G3 with a G4. An easy way to tell, is run some quick benchmarks and if it is faster, you'll know the cache is working. Without the cache, your upgrade will perform worse than the original CPU. HTH
